Arthritis in the knee is a common problem especially among the older age group. The pain can also be felt even at resting position of the knee. Some of the most common symptoms are stiffness and swelling of the knee joint, inflammation and redness of the joint, popping and cracking sound when you step on your knee. The pain will get worse when you move your knee and so it is necessary to take precautions to prevent arthritis in knee.

There are some preventive measures that can be taken to protect your knees from getting arthritis. You should wear comfortable footwear that gives ample cushion for the ankle and protects your knee from getting injury. In addition, you should not stand on your toes or walk with an excessive speed. Avoid prolonged standing on hard surfaces, as these may cause stress and strain to your knees. Avoid twisting your knee by bending your knees and remaining relaxed while moving your legs.

There are certain medications, which can be taken to control arthritis in knee. These medications help in relieving the pain. It is advisable to consult a doctor before taking any kind of medication. If you are not sure about the type of medicine to be taken, then do not try to diagnose arthritis on your own. Consult a pharmacist who has experience with arthritis in knee. He will help you identify the right medicine to relieve your problems.

Arthritis in the knee will affect your lifestyle if you are unable to move your knee. You will have difficulty in performing your daily activities which include walking, running, jumping and other sports. It becomes difficult to perform your everyday chores because you always feel like having pains in your joints.

The symptoms of arthritis in knee joint include stiffness and swelling of the joints. The pain and stiffness get worse when you exercise. Weight lifting and stretching will also cause knee problems. When the cartilage is damaged in your knee, it is likely to develop osteoarthritis.

There are certain foods which are good for the prevention of arthritis in knee. Omega 3 fatty acids which are present in salmon, trout, sardines and flounder are highly beneficial for arthritis sufferers. Garlic is also very beneficial for arthritis sufferers. It helps in relieving the pain and in reducing the swelling of the joints. Arthritis in the knee joint can be prevented with the help of these natural remedies.
